Rebecca Peck from the Fiskateers will be at the Philly Swap tomorrow to show you all kinds of cool and craft-tastic goodness!
The Fiskateers are ambassadors of crafting and for Fiskars whose goal is to share their passion for crafting. They love all things crafty! Naturally, they favor Fiskars products but welcome anything that helps spark creativity and imagination. And they’re pretty partial to the color orange. (But who isn’t?!)
Take a look at some of the fabrics and buttons that we got from our friends at Charles Zarit Tailors Supplies on 5th and Bainbridge Sts! I know our Artists and Swappers are going to love using these groovy, and vintage do-dads to embellish their swap treasures!
Make sure to come out for our event, this Saturady, May 12th from 12:00 – 5:00 PM at Broad Street Ministry.
Don’t forget! The Philly Swap 2012 is at Broad Street Ministry Lower Level next week, Saturday, May 12th! Bring a friend. Bring your family. Bring yourself. Bring everybody! There’s still time to sign up to volunteer! Email us at email@example.com.
Hey Swappers! Check out the results of Project Printing! I’ve spent the entire weekend doing these cards to help promote Philly Swap 2012 that is coming up in just a few weeks. What do you think? Snazzy crafty, huh?
I hope you are ready for a craft-tastic event with some great partners and supporters!
We’re absolutely thrilled to announce our partnership with IKEA South Philadelphia! IKEA is dedicated to creating a better everyday life for the many people, including doing what it can to help create a world where we take better care of the environment, the earth’s resources, and each other. They strive for continuous improvement knowing it is a never-ending job, and work hard to be a part of the solution. And boy are they a part of it!
IKEA will be helping us spread the word about our event that is coming up on Saturday, May 12th, from 12noon-5pm, at the Broad Street Ministry. They are also donating their famous IKEA bags for Swappers to use and reuse while searching for their treasures, in addition to donating fabrics for our artists to use to embellish and create!

We’re proud to join forces with the Circle Thrift in support of their mission. Circle Thrift is a mission team within Circle Venture and a member of the MCC Thrift Shop Network. They provide some funds back to the other thrift stores and to MCC for their many other world missions in providing inexpensive clothing, creating jobs, and building community and relationships. In addition to helping us spread the word about the Philly Swap, Circle Thrift will be receiving any remaining clothing articles and accessories as a donation toward their campaign to provide inexpensive, good quality clothing.
The Philly Swap is happy to announce our partnership with Amber Zaraza of Phea Jean! Amber has worked with the Philly Swap since it’s culmination in 2008. She has not only helped organize the event, but also ran her own workshop showcasing her expertise in creating one-of-a-kind pieces and accessories from upcycled and vintage clothing and textiles. With currently 17 years of experience under her belt, Amber has become renown for her meticulously sewn creations combining non-traditional patterns and mixing patterns.
We’re very excited to have her as a partner and featured artist. To see more of Amber and her one-of-a-kind creations visit her at www.pheajean.com, or on Etsy!
Today’s featured artist is Handmade Philly. Handmade Philly is an independent, member-run collective that encourages artists, crafters, and designers to join Greater Philadelphia’s growing network of professional and amateur artists. Once limited to the members of the Philly Etsy Team, the group now seeks to further its local, sustainable handmade movement by building community, providing educational workshops, and promotional events. This, of course, makes for a craft-tastic partnership as a featured artist for the Philly Swap! Handmade Philly will be onsite all day presenting a workshop on how to make jewelry from your textiles and t-shirts.
