Philly Swap 2012 Success!

Thank you to everyone who turned up to the Philly Swap today!  We had a great turn out of people and had an absolutely craft-tastic, rollicking, good time!  (As promised!)

We would like to thank our volunteers who helped us operate our event.  We definitely couldn’t have maintained our tables and doors without you!  Also thanks to our awesome partners, Elissa Kara of Nice Things Handmade, Grid Magazine, Circle Thrift, Wendy Tremayne, IKEA South Philadelphia, Fiskars, and Broad Street Ministry. In addition to, we send our thanks to the amazing group of artists from Handmade Philly, Amber Zaraza of Phea Jean, Kayti Didriksen, and Rebecca Peck of the Fiskateers!

The Fiskateers are coming!

Rebecca Peck from the Fiskateers will be at the Philly Swap tomorrow to show you all kinds of cool and craft-tastic goodness!

The Fiskateers are ambassadors of crafting and for Fiskars whose goal is to share their passion for crafting.  They love all things crafty! Naturally, they favor Fiskars products but welcome anything that helps spark creativity and imagination. And they’re pretty partial to the color orange. (But who isn’t?!)

Come check out Rebecca Peck’s workshop tomorrow at the Philly Swap: Saturday, May 12th, from 12:00-5:00 PM at the Broad Street Ministry Lower Level.

We’ve got fabrics and buttons for DAYS!!!

Take a look at some of the fabrics and buttons that we got from our friends at Charles Zarit Tailors Supplies on 5th and Bainbridge Sts!  I know our Artists and Swappers are going to love using these groovy, and vintage do-dads to embellish their swap treasures!

Make sure to come out for our event, this Saturady, May 12th from 12:00 – 5:00 PM at Broad Street Ministry.

This just in! IKEA donation received!

We were so excited to be able to partner with IKEA South Philadelphia, and to make it even greater, they gave us fabric and bags for our Swappers!

We love you IKEA!

Phea Jean, you say? We say, Yes!

Today’s featured artist is Handmade Philly. Handmade Philly is an independent, member-run collective that encourages artists, crafters, and designers to join Greater Philadelphia’s growing network of professional and amateur artists. Once limited to the members of the Philly Etsy Team, the group now seeks to further its local, sustainable handmade movement by building community, providing educational workshops, and promotional events. This, of course, makes for a craft-tastic partnership as a featured artist for the Philly Swap! Handmade Philly will be onsite all day presenting a workshop on how to make jewelry from your textiles and t-shirts.

Make sure you come and join in the fun! To see more about Handmade Philly. Check them out online at www.handmadephilly.com and join them on their Facebook group!
